Felix was a man born without arms. Growing up in a conservative, rural area, his disability was seen as a curse, and his family, a well-off clan in the province, hid him away from the public eye. He lived in a bahay kubo on their farm where he was tasked with chopping wood, a job his father would pick up every afternoon. Despite the harshness of his life, Felix had a vibrant spirit and always dreamed of something better.

The only person who cared for Felix was his uncle, Jose, a kind man who had once been in the seminary but chose to become a teacher instead. Jose visited Felix every day to teach him how to read, write, and learn mathematics, languages, and the world around him. Through his uncle, Felix also learned to use his feet for every task.

Felix grew into a strong, handsome young man. However, despite his appearance, he was still ridiculed for being armless and continued to chop wood for his father, who saw him as nothing more than a tool for the family business. His uncle was his only true family, and after Jose’s death when Felix was 18, he was left isolated and heartbroken.

With no one left, Felix spent his time creating stories and playing with his feet for comfort. He began to view his feet not only as tools for survival but as companions. He even developed a kind of intimate connection with them, though he kept this to himself, given the lack of human contact.

One morning, while cooking, Felix encountered a young traveler who appeared tired and lost. Felix offered him water, and the traveler was amazed at how well Felix managed his life despite being born without arms. Felix shared his story with the traveler, explaining that he had no friends and was kept hidden by his family because of his disability. He even confided in the traveler about his strange, yet comforting relationship with his feet.

The traveler, intrigued, asked, “Do you find it strange, talking to your feet?”

Felix responded, “No, they’re all I have. They’re my friends, and sometimes... more than that.”

To Felix’s surprise, the traveler was understanding, and rather than judging, he found beauty in Felix’s unique bond with his feet. The traveler then revealed something astonishing: “There is a place where you can be yourself where your disability is celebrated and where your love for your feet is not only accepted, but revered.”

Felix was skeptical but curious. The traveler explained that this place was a realm called Piedina, and he himself was a deity—specifically, the Foot God. Felix was told that he had been chosen to become the first boytaur, a being who would live in Piedina, a world where feet were sacred. Felix was intrigued, but wondered about the transformation.

The Foot God explained that Felix would not remain armless. Instead, he would receive four arms—each ending in feet. Felix would also gain four additional legs, all ending in feet as well. The idea of having more feet, more friends, excited Felix. He agreed to the transformation, eager for a new life.

With a flick of his toes, the Foot God transported Felix to Piedina, landing atop a mountain made of feet called Mount Foot. Felix was instructed to kiss and lick the soles of one of the feet. As he did, a powerful electric pulse coursed through his body, and his transformation began.

Felix felt stumps growing from his shoulders, and to his amazement, four arms—each with feet—sprouted. Four more legs grew from his backside, each ending in his familiar, handsome feet. The transformation was complete.

The Foot God then performed another ritual. He detached Felix’s front legs and placed them on the mountain, instructing Felix to kiss them. As Felix did so, the legs were regenerated, and another boytaur, named Joseph, emerged.

“Felix, meet Joseph. Joseph, meet Felix. You are now partners in Piedina,” said the Foot God. He explained that Felix and Joseph would populate the world with beings like themselves, who shared a deep reverence for feet. They were to worship each other’s feet every day to keep the civilization thriving.
