An unnamed student has the monkey’s paw thrust upon him. What will he wish for, and how will the paw monkey around with him?

The student was lying naked on the beach, dozing under the sunbeams and the sea breeze, when something fell on his face. Startled, he jumped up, flinging whatever it was onto the sand, and looked around for whoever or whatever dropped the thing. He saw no one, and he certainly didn’t hear anyone either, but he did find the object dropped on him. It was a weird little mummified hand, dark and wrinkly and covered with hair.

“Eurgh, who throws monkey’s paws onto people’s faces?” the student said. But he looked around again, more furtive this time and picked up the offending appendage. He looked around one more time, licked his lips in anticipation, and made his wish: “I wish I had no need for clothing.”

The pointer finger of the monkey’s paw curled over, and the student instantly felt perfectly comfortable, as if the sea breeze and the sunbeams were caressing him in a warm, gentle embrace.

He giggled, giddy at the feeling, and immediately started packing up. When he slipped his swim trunks back on, however, he immediately felt unbearably uncomfortable, the swimsuit sticking to him and irritating his skin. It felt like thousands of ants were crawling in his skin, biting and stinging his nethers. He tore them off brusquely, with so much force as to actually tear them.

“Well, fuck,” the student said to the open air. “How am I supposed to walk through town if I can’t wear any clothes? It’s not like I can just walk around buck-ass nude. Wait, why can’t I? Didn’t I wish I had no need for clothing? And social niceties are certainly a need. Well, only one way to find out.” And so, the student packed up his things, threw his torn swimsuit in the trash and his other clothes in the donation bin (was that there before?), and went on his merry way through town and back to his dorm.
