Biweekly Update: Friday, 5 May 2017

Happy May, everyone! This week’s update has two new chapters from me, one continuing and one new (and both were a lot of fun to write), plus lots of other good stuff besides. (By total, uncanny coincidence we have not one but two stories in which laundromats play a key role. Is it national laundry appreciation month or something?)

Site features update: I've added a story finder search box up in the menu bar. It’s got typeahead built-in, so you can enter a part of a story title and it will find the matches. Then you hit enter and it will take you to the story. Right now it’s just story titles, but later I’ll add the ability to go to tag and author pages this way.

I also was finding that the stack of tag routers was looking a little big and unwieldy on pages with more than a couple tags, so instead of a big column of tag routers I unstacked them and let them flow as a bunch of capsules. The story header bloc has been rearranged accordingly. Let me know what you think, and if you experience any problems on whatever device or app you’re using.

Site traffic news: I’m feeling good about the site, and that makes me want to keep improving things as well as write. Last month we had record views—almost a quarter million story views in April, with spikes of 11,500 views on the two update Fridays. All that may not be a lot for some sites, but it’s pretty intense for me. Please drop me a line with any changes you think would make the site better!

That’s it. Gushing, heartfelt thanks to my wonderful Patreon folks. Enjoy your visit and I’ll see you soon.
