“Come on, it’s empty. Stop being such a wimp,” the tall boy said, standing at the entrance to a darkened tunnel through the hillside.

“What if a train comes?” the smaller boy asked.

The tall one, an athletic young boy named Larry, smiled, slowly shaking his head. His brother Jay was smart. Way too smart to ask such a dumb question. So, he must really be scared.

“Jay, look at the tracks. Everything is rusted and overgrown. This tunnel hasn’t been used for decades.”

“Everyone in town says its haunted. That people that go down that tunnel don’t come out. They even sent some police officers down back in the nineties and no one ever saw them again.”

“It’s spooky, sure, but it’s not haunted,” Larry said, but he’d decided not to push the matter any further. His brother was clearly too scared. “I just wanted to check it out. Maybe I’ll come back some other time. Let’s just get back to the apartment.”

Jay was relieved that his brother hadn’t pushed the issue. While Larry was brave and a six foot tall athlete, going to college on a volleyball scholarship, Jay was always the smaller and meeker of the two. Smaller was relative as Jay was still 5’11”, not short for a boy. The two walked back out of the small wooded area at the edge of town and headed home, talking about other things to pass the time.

It was true that everyone in town knew about the abandoned train tunnel. It had been there for as long as anyone could remember, but as the years passed and one of the major train lines that used that route went out of business, it became less and less common to hear the lonely train whistle carrying through the small town. Then, when one opening of the tunnel had collapsed in a hard storm, the rest of it was left to rot. So that left one opening, out in the woods where the tracks had become overgrown, and the dark tunnel ran on for nearly half a mile into the hill, in complete darkness.

Jay also hadn’t been too far off the mark about police being sent in to explore the tunnel. They weren’t sworn officers, but they had been a small group of volunteers who’d offered to go in and check the tunnel out after a the town’s bank was robbed and the thief had been spotted running in that direction. The volunteers went down that tunnel, flashlights and firearms in hand, but they’d never been seen again, and after a while the town sort of forgot about them. No one wanted to think too much about the haunted train tunnel.

It was a good thing that more people hadn’t gone down that tunnel after the volunteers, because they would have shared in the fate of those poor men. Their bodies remained there in the tunnel, about halfway down the darkened distance. Reduced to skeletons in the intervening years.

And none of them were more than six inches tall.

The very next evening, the night before Halloween, Jay came back to his apartment to find it empty and a note had been left by Larry on the kitchen counter.

“Hey bro, don’t worry about the train tunnel. Tim decided to come with me and explore it. We should be back before dinner.”

Tim was a good friend of Larry’s from the university’s volleyball team. He was nice. He was also even taller than Larry was. About 6’4”, tall enough to make Jay feel very petite. Jay was glad that Larry still got to go explore, but as he reread the note and saw that it was well last dinner time, he decided to reach out to his bro.

A few dozen text messages and phone calls to Larry AND Tim went unanswered and Jay was getting nervous as the hours passed. He finally decided to hop on his bike, grab a flashlight and ride out to the abandoned train tunnel. His imagination ran wild, picturing the worst scenarios possible for why his brother wasn’t answering.

Another cave in? Maybe he was trapped in the dark.

Could there be someone dangerous out there? It was out on the edge of town, who knew what sort of person could be hiding in the dark tunnel?

Jay’s fears multiplied when he got to the spot and saw flashing lights from two squad cars as officers were taping off the darkened opening to the tunnel.

“What’s going on?” he called to them as he skidded to a stop. “My brother and his friend are in there!”

A young officer came over, trying to calm him down. “They aren’t the only ones. We heard a few people were exploring out here and we sent one of our own down the tunnel to check it out. That was an hour ago and he’s not responding to his radio anymore. We can’t let anyone else go down there. It might have opened up in the dark or maybe there’s a gas leak, but we’re waiting for the guys from the state to get down here with their gear and check it out. I’m sure your brother is all right, but we need to be careful.”

Jay, normally meek and frightful, felt a surge of bravery as an idea popped into his head. If they weren’t going to help his brother, Jay would do it herself. He’d done some research on the old tunnel and he was pretty sure he could find the other side where the opening had collapsed. He might be able to get to it from there, but he had to do something.

Deep in the tunnel, three people huddled together in the dark, lit only by a single flashlight that was inadequate for lighting the huge space they were in.

“What the hell is happening?” Larry asked the officer, hoping he’d have answers, but the uniformed man looked as lost as the other two.

Tim was silently crying to himself in a corner. “I can’t play volleyball anymore. I’m too small!”

It had happened so slowly in that dark tunnel that they’d gone for quite some time before realizing what was happening. Larry had thought the ceiling was rising up higher, possibly opening up into a cavern, but that had been far from the truth. And then when they’d slipped down that hill, slick with moss, they realized they were somehow too small to climb back up.

Larry had compared himself to the rusted railroad tracks and come to the conclusion that, at best, the two boys were about four inches tall.

Then later, when the officer had arrived, they thought they were saved.

Until he slipped down that same slick hill and they realized he was just as tiny as they were. None of their phones worked and they were scared to try going any further along the tunnel, so for the time being, they just had to wait.

“What sort of tunnel makes people smaller when they go through it?” Larry mused before going over and giving his friend a comforting hug.

Jay found the collapsed end of the abandoned train tunnel near a drainage ditch behind a newer big-box store. He could see how it had once been huge but with the way the earth had crashed down over the opening and then settled for decades, the space that he was able to reach with the shovel that he’d brought was limited. He dug with a fury, driven by the adrenaline rush that came with being scared for his brother’s safety. If the police weren’t going to go in and get him, he’d do it himself. As he dug, the weather turned and a storm began building on the horizon, lightning helping to illuminate the dark space where he worked.

Jay was surprised to find that after digging through only a few feet of dirt and grass, his shovel crashed through into open space. He widened the opening and found himself looking into that same darkened tunnel, only this time from the other direction. He left the shovel there as rain began crashing down and he squeezed into the space and lit his flashlight.

The tracks on this end of the tunnel looked to have been removed or just rusted away, so as he peered into the darkness all he saw was a long dark tunnel that went on further than the beam of his light. He could see how the tunnel was supported with bricks once he got past the last of the collapsed earth and, screwing up all of his bravery, he headed off into the darkness, calling his brother’s name as he went.

Larry hushed the other two, his friend and the officer had both been blubbering, because he thought he heard his name being called.

“Did you hear that?” he asked. “It sounded like Jay.”

“The others wouldn’t let anyone else come through there after I didn’t come out,” the officer explained, “It’s too dangerous. We’ve all heard the stories about this place.”

“No,” Larry said, pointing out a distant glow. “It came from the other direction.”

The three tiny people watched as a glow built, coming from the collapsed side of the tunnel and they heard again as Jay called out his brother’s name.

“Jay!” Larry screamed, “We’re here!” He then watched as the figure of his brother came up out of the dark.

“Why’s this damn ceiling so low?” Jay complained, his hair brushing the ceiling of the tunnel.

“Oh my…” the tiny people said in awe as Jay stopped over them, spotting the tiny light at his feet.

“What the hell?” Jay asked, dropping down to a knee to get a better look.

The three from the open end of the tunnel were all about four inches tall, which was weird enough, but Jay had to be nearly twelve feet tall. It didn’t make any sense, but as the siblings recognized each other, it didn’t matter and Larry jumped into his brother’s hand.

Jay didn’t waste any time, collecting all three of them before continuing on his way. There was no chance he’d fit back through the collapsed side at his current size, so he simply kept going.

He walked and things shifted again.

Jay was crouched down as low as possible before too long, but by the time he had to get down onto his hands and knees, the three tiny people had somehow grown enough to walk on their own. He explained to them how he’d found the collapsed side of the tunnel and dug his way through. To himself, he wondered what sort of weird magic had made this tunnel.

You shrink going one way and grow going the other? Insane.

Soon, compared to the old tracks, Larry was pretty sure he was at least a few feet tall. Something weird was happening, but at least they were getting out of there. The officer was acting professionally, trying not to be too weirded out, but Tim was skipping along happily.

The officers at the collapsed end of the tunnel were huddling under cover to stay out of the rain when they heard the voices coming their way. Their fellow officer was the first to emerge, 5’11” and normal-sized in every way. He tried to warn the others to be cool and to not be freaked out as Larry and Tim emerged back at their usual volleyball heights.

Then Jay, crawling low just to fit, came squeezing out of the tunnel. He had noticed how his balls and dick were growing more than the rest of him and they were now three times bigger than normal compared to him. He emerged into the stormy night, muddied but smiling. He’d saved his brother and the others, but as he finally popped out, he realized just how huge he’d become and loved it. The normal-sized people at his feet looked like toys, each of them small enough for him to hold in his hands. He was now one hundred feet tall. The tallest trees around him were barely high enough to conceal him from the road nearby. He was very proud of having grown so huge and decided to stay big forever.

“I’m going to go through the tunnel from the other side! I WANNA BE BIG!!!” Tim called out as he took off jogging.

A few minutes later Tim came out of the tunnel with his balls and dick three times bigger compared to him. He stood up and he and Jay kissed each other as their dicks got more erect.

Larry stared directly up above him at the two naked giants as they sucked on each others giant balls and giant erections. Larry thought it was the most amazing sight in his life looking at the size their balls and dicks had grown to. Each one of them had an erection three times bigger than Larry’s entire body. Larry ran to the other end of the tunnel and started running through it and came out on the other end just as big as they were and his balls and dick were slightly bigger than theirs were. They all kissed and sucked on each other’s giant balls and dicks.
